I see my life, and who I am today
What I wouldn't give to be in the past
Ignorantly enjoying that sweet ignorance
That never seems to last

As the last of it slips away
And the cloud of loss settles in
The burden of guilt is all for you
As you mourn innocent sin

It tears you apart, piece by piece
While tears roll down your face
You cry out to God, "I didn't know!"
But you knew, you just wanted a litle taste

Now you pay the price of personal torment
No forgiveness for or from yourself
You must accept and come to terms
So it can die, forgotten on a shelf

Now you feel better, but you know better as well
A little piece of innocence, lost forever, gone away
So you just pick yourself up and move on
To lose yourself again, some other day
