Tracadie Bay
i follow the tarmac
over the bridge past Corran Ban
the wind scolds the slope
etching strands of dune grass
with harsh fingers
i feel the void
where it rakes my senses
and rustles through my emotions

out of the wooded fringe
i wander
seeking direction from within
viewing the mudflats
with tangled thoughts

i scatter my fears
among the shanty's along the pier
like seeds of discontent
on the breakwall

i want to grow here
have my roots trace the red soil
gingerly
to feed on confidence
and shed the pain of doubt

the clouds spread shadows on the bay
gathering herons with silent arms
into crimson pools
could your arms gather me
embrace me here
where the dunes lean on Tracadie Bay
