The Way To Go
Notes Page
"The Way to Go", written in the summer of 2001, begins with one of my favorite poems out of An Album of Verse, which is  a collection of poems that were gathered togerther by Dr. Victor Paul Weirwille, the founder of the Way International, and published by the American Christian Press.

Proverbs 16 gives us the choice of two ways to go. (Another example of this is in
Deuteronomy 30:15 - 20.)

Proverbs 16:25
gives us the world's way. "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end therof are the ways of death."

Proverbs 16:17, on the other hand, gives us the Word's way, which is God's way. "The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul."

The short poem, "
The Winds" by Ellen Wheeler Wilcox, seemed to be the best way to start out a song that was based on a teaching about which way we should walk. The teaching that inspired this song was given by Hayward Chappelle in June of 2001 and in it, he gave an example of how that at times in life, we face a crossroads and we must decide whether we should take the world's way or God's way. While the world's way may seem to be good, God's way is the best path for us to take.

Wilcox's poem points out that it is the way the sails are set that drives the direction of a ship, not the winds that blow it about. Likewise, we decide which way we want to go, not the world which, as
Ephesians 4:14 says, tries to toss us to and fro, and carry us about with every wind of doctrine that is directed at us. We don't have to be tossed about by our own emotions or by other doctrines and manmade interpretations.

We can just stick to the truth of God's word and rest knowing that by His Word, we are just and righteous. For an example of this, when Phillip spoke to the eunuch in the record of
Acts 8:26-39, he was there to teach the man how to understand the Word of God and how to claim all of the precious promises found therein. The eunuch was so blessed that Phillip sat down with him and showed him that he too was a Son of God and that he had all of the benefits of being one. In Acts 8:39, "he went on his way rejoicing".

Don't let any foolish doctrines prohibit you from living in the way of holiness. God is looking for you who are humble and meek to his Word, so just walk in His Light.
