| Even though this hasn't gotten the attention that "Rise Up and Walk" had, I view this as my favorite work. It is partially a biblical version of the premise in one of my favorite children's books, Love You Forever (Available on Amazon.com) (with the premise being that the love passed down from the parents to their children makes such a huge impact in the child's adult life), but it is mostly based on my own experiences as well as countless other men and women who were raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. I see it as a big thank-you note to my parents also. It sure beats a tie for Father's Day! "The Heart of a Teacher" details the love of two parents for their child and their continuing desire to nurture him in the Lord. As they continue nurturing him, the boy gets more and more willing to receive it and share it. Finally, as he grows into a man, he becomes to others what his parents were to him, a loving teacher. The chorus, pieced together from Isaiah 32:3, Proverbs 4:20 and Proverbs 5:1, were verses that I believed could truly express the heart of both a teacher and a learner of God's word. Who better to express that heart than King Solomon? Proverbs - Chapter 4, Verses 20,22,23, and 26; and Proverbs - Chapter 5, Verse 1 (KJV) "My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings." "For they [my sayings] are life unto those that find them; and health to all their flesh" "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." "Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established." "My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding" |
