The Winning Seed
Notes Page

Although I want to include it, I'm not sure if I'll be able to add this short musical onto the Endurance track.

"The Winning Seed" was inspired by an interpretive dance production by
the Way International on the gifts of the holy spirit versus the seed of the serpent. The production, "Athletes of the Spirit" (available on video), showed the conflict between those who stood for God and those who stood for the world and its dominion, and also showed the powers and wills of both God and the devil.

"The Winning Seed" opens when a group of believers witness to a young man who is at a crossroads (see "The Way To Go" notes). He likes what the believers are telling him, but feels pressured to stick to his older ways.

Using an analogy of the spiritual competition of the young man's mind as being  a boxing match, the music turns into a heavy techno beat and a boxing announcer yells out the two corners, one being God and the other being the Devil. In the first 'round', the two spiritual entities rap about who they are and what they represent. Then, it goes to the chorus, addressed to the young man, which asks him which way he is going to go, or which seed he is going to accept.

In the second 'round', the devil and God rap about their seed and the powers (or lack of power) that are associated with it. Then, it goes to the chorus. Again, it is up to the young man to decide whether he will be born again of God, or to go to the counterfeit way.

The music turns more intense as the young man gets closer to making his decision. Satan is pushing harder and harder to push him aside from the way of God, though God is still calm because He knows what the end result will be.

The music cuts off, and the scene returns to reality, where the young man receives a phone call from the believer who had witnessed to him. The believer asks him what his decision is, and he decides that he wants to go to fellowship.

The music returns and Satan realizes he's been defeated, even though he does make mention that he will try again. God speaks of all the love and care that is available to the young man, and that He has the winning seed.
