9. The Touch of the Master's Hand -
NOTES
(Music written by David Green; Lyrics written by Myra Brooks Welch - reprinted from Album of Verse)

'Twas battered and scarred and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste much time on the old violin
But held it up with a smile
"What am I bidden, good folks," he cried
"Who'll start the bidding for me?
A dollar, a dollar"; then, "Two! Only two?
Two dollars and who'll make it three?

"Three dollars, once; three dollars, twice;
Going for three--" But no,
From the room, far back, a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow;
Then, wiping the dust from the old violin,
And tightening the loose strings
He played a melody pure and sweet
As a caroling angel sings

The music ceased, and the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said, "What am I bid for the old violin?"
And he held it up with the bow/
"A thousand dollars, and who'll make it two?
Two thousand! and who'll make it three?
Three thousand, once; three thousand, twice
And going, and gone" said he.
The people cheered but some of them cried
"We do not quite understand
What changed its worth?" Swift came the reply,
"The touch of a master's hand."

And many a man with life out of tune
And battered and scarred with sin
Is auctioned off cheap to the thoughtless crowd
Much like the old violin
A "mess of pottage," a glass of wine;
A game -- and he travels on
He is 'going' once, and 'going' twice
He's 'going' and almost 'gone'
But the Master comes, and the foolish crowd
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the touch of the Master's hand

10. Spiritual Athletes -
NOTES
(Words and music by David Green)
HEAR SAMPLE MP3

On the highway of the Word, there's a quality
Far removed from all doubt, fear, and the worry
Instead of being held down by the snares of the past,
While the world's moving slow, you're moving fast
As lightning different from what the world is seeing
Yet fully aware of whatever's happening
Living to the fullest, Doing what's best
Running the race, far ahead of the rest,
Full of power, energized to the highest degree
With people that are sharp, quick, and with agility
Discerning the right, discerning the wrong
As spiritual athletes, we remain strong

We're able ministers of Christ Willing to move in this life
Passionate and willing to serve God and His matchless Word
Free to serve and free to love With all that God has given us
We are strong, we are not weak Receiving the Word, we are the meek
Humble to serve, unselfish and mild, obedient
To the Word, the One true God, we are His servants
As spiritual athletes

CHORUS:
We endure and win in this race because we're
Spiritual athletes
Get up and get ready to compete so
Girt your loins and feet
In all things, be strong, because He told us that
We''re more than conquerors
And know that this is our victory hour 'cause
We have the power

We stay on top of our own lives For a goal that we do strive
Living our lives to the full Defeating the devil in all
The devil has no power To make us numb and travail
We're strong to live, we're strong to love We're strong enough to prevail
Resist the wiles the devil throws, and he will flee
His prison doesn't hold us, we are now free
As athletes for God

CHORUS

Bold, bold enough to the Word Preaching about what we heard
Keeping the Word in our minds Telling others what we find
Set apart and taking the Prevailing Word to the world
And we're sounding out with the Word of the Lord
There's a person out there with bondage and strife
It's your duty as an athlete to save his life
As spiritual athletes

CHORUS
