ENDURANCE IS:

The exertion of mental and/or physical power by a person who in the midst of difficult adversities (such as hardships or continuous stress) remains steadfast and unmoveable in his or her mindset and course of action.

Endurance comes from the Greek word
hupomone, which, in the context of the Word, means to "act and continue in the Word now, as you wait for the hope of the gathering together followed by Christ's triumphant return"
Endurance never means to just wait around and not do anything. It requires action; it requires discipline. The allegory of the 'athlete' in relation to the spiritual competition is the greatest example of this. True athletes will endure any hardship and any obstacle that comes at them in order to win the competition that they are involved in. The spiritual competition, or the arena in your own mind, must be endured now in order to achieve great victories and rewards later.

So STAND FAST in the truth of God's Word, PERSIST in this spiritual competition, and DON'T GIVE UP because this time of endurance is only a brief moment out of all of eternity
