What exactly is "Prophesies", you ask? Well, in a moment you shall find the complete story ready for you to read, but right now I'll tell you a little bit about where I got the idea for it, etc.
Not so long ago, I had the pleasure of enjoying an independant film titled "Donnie Darko", which starred Jake Gyllenhaal (October Sky, Bubble Boy), Drew Barrymore (E.T., Ever After), and Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing). To me, this movie showed much emotion and feeling that I'm still blown away every time I watch it. I don't think anyone is able to watch Donnie Darko, and walk away untouched by it's powerful storyline, as unrealistic as it may seem to some. This movie, as well as "The Bourne Identity", inspired me to write Prophesies, so there are some very slight similarities between the story lines. However, I am not trying to plagiarize the movie. Anyway, if you like my story (which you can read in a moment), then I strongly encourage you to go out and rent, or buy the movie Donnie Darko.
Now, the main character in this short story is Josh Parker, a troubled teen nearing his 18th birthday. When I wrote him, I added as much of me as I could (without turning him into a girl). No, my life isn't that messed up, but it can sure seem that way sometimes.
The other main character, Byron Collins, is completely fictional in every aspect, though I've attempted to give him a bit of my quick wit and charm.
I've designed both men in the images of two stars: Eric Johnson (as Josh) and Brad Pitt (as Byron). They are two of my most favourite actors, and this is my way of showing them some of my gratitude. In other words, if this ever becomes a movie, these are the two actors I would want most for the characters' parts.
So, without further ado, please click the link below, and submerse yourself into the twisted world of Josh Parker...
