And Everything to Gain
by IamBoris
Shortly after arriving on a world inhabited by a bronze-age civilization, the Sliders discover Adrian Fayne (Logans now-former associate from Doublecross) transporting strip-mining equipment into this unsuspecting world by means of a high-powered wormhole.  Apparently sliding research in Logans home dimension continued in her absence (after she went randomly sliding at the end of Doublecross), and apparently Prototronics plans for plundering parallel earths are now in motion.  Logans loyalties are called into question when she offers to confront Fayne, claiming that she (having been his peer in the past) will be able to dissuade him from his plans.

Things do not go as she had said they would.  Instead of dissuading Fayne from his plan, Logan is instead easily persuaded to rejoin Prototronics in their plundering scheme when Fayne makes promises of glory, wealth, and a return home.  To the Professor and Remmys great dismay, Logan goes from ally to adversary in a matter of moments, needing very little persuasion to do so; the Professor, who has been sliding with this woman for well over two years, is deeply hurt by how quickly she turned on them.

In spite of outward appearances, Logan is struggling with her disloyalty.  She hadnt planned on betraying the Professor and Rembrandt, but the chance to return home to fame and fortune was too tempting to pass up, especially given her propensity for avarice.  Besides, the development and use of sliding technology has consumed her life now for nearly eight years; she feels that its high time she gets the recognition and rewards that she deserves for her work on the invention.

No matter what Logan is going to do, however, the Professor and Rembrandt are still determined to put a stop to Faynes unconscionable use of sliding technology.  The tensions rise steadily throughout the episode, eventually culminating in a final showdown between the natives (led by Arturo and Remmy) and the Prototronics workers (led by Fayne and Logan).  Will Logan realize the error of her ways and re-join the Professor and Remmy (who still have her timer and could keep sliding without her), or will she continue her regression into depravity?

Obviously, in the end, Logan turns on Fayne and helps Remmy and the Professor put a stop to his plans.  But in spite of Logans change of heart, Rembrandt and Arturo cannot forget how easily she betrayed them, and their trust in her may never again be as absolute as it had come to be over the last few months.
