Chapter 10
“When the cats away”

Scene 1
Abby has just arrived for work and is putting her bag in her locker when Susan walks into the Doctors Lounge to have her break.
Susan: (Watching Abby put her bag in her locker) Do you have any plans for tonight.
Abby: (Turning around from her locker and looking at Susan with a smile on her face) No, why?
Susan: (Walking over to the coffee machine and making a cup of coffee) That's good 'cause your coming with us for a girls night to celebrate your last weekend as a free women.
Abby: (Laughing at Susan) You mean like a female bachelor party.
Susan: (Walking over to the table with her coffee and sitting down) Yeah.
Abby: (Walking towards the door) I'll see.
Susan: Come on, I'll be fun. You have to have a girls night out before your wedding it's a tradition.
Abby: (Turning around and smiling at Susan) A tradition, really?
Susan: Ok your the first, but It'll be fun.
Abby: Alright but no silly party pranks.
Susan: (Smiling at Abby) You know me, would I do that?
Abby: (Continuing to walk out the door) Yes.
Scene 2
Carter and Gallant are in Exam 1 finishing up with a patient. Carter sees Abby walking past the door.
Carter: (Handing Gallant the patients chart) Are you right with this?
Gallant: (Taking the chart off Carter) Yeah, Do you want her on a monitor.
Carter: (Begining to walk out) Up to you. She's your patient. (Continues to walk out of the room)
Abby: (Sees Carter walking out of the room and goes over to him)
Carter: (Hugging Abby) Hey, did you just get here.
Abby: About 10 minutes ago.
Carter: How long you on for?
Abby: 'Till seven, Why?
Carter: (Smiling at Abby) I get off at six. Want to go somewhere romantic tonight.
Abby: (Smiling back at Carter) I can't, Susan's planned a girls night out for tonight.
Carter: (Laughing) Really?
Abby: Yeah, It's not a big deal. I can cancell if you want.
Carter: Nah we'll go out another night. Just be careful and have fun.
Abby: (Smiling at Carter and turning around to walk off) I will.
Carter: (Watches Abby as she walks off then walks off himself)
Scene 3
Susan and Luka are in the Ambulance Bay waiting for a rig to roll.
Luka: (Looking over at Susan) Everything right for tonight.
Susan: Yeah, I asked Abby to go to a girls night out.
Luka: Did she say yes?
Susan: Yeah, after a lot of convincing.
Luka: (Smiles at Susan) As long as she's coming.
Susan: Remember to meet me, you know where, to do you know what.
Luka: Yeah, have you asked everyone to be there at seven thirty?
Susan: I still have to ask Romano and Elizabeth, they've been in surgery and I haven't seen them yet.
Luka: I called the others last night and they said they'd be here.
Susan: (Sees Romano walking out of the ER) Hey Robert, you free tonight?
Scene 4
It's Six and Carter is just signing off to go home. When Luka and Peter walk up behind Carter and grab him by the arms.
Carter: (Surprised) Hey what's going on.
Peter: It's for your own good man.
Carter: Peter?
Luka: (Handing Peter the rope) Tie his hands up tight, we don't want him getting free.
Peter: (Taking the rope off Luka and tying Carter's hands behind his back.
Carter: (Trying to turn around) Who else is in on this?
Luka: (Rapping a bandanna around Carter's eye's) Don't worry about that.
Abby: (Walks over to the desk, sees what Luka and Peter are doing to Carter and looks over at Susan and Jerry who at the desk watching them too) You have something to do with this?
Susan: Thy of little faith.
Abby: (Shaking her head) Yeah sure.
Susan: (Smiling) I didn't, this was all them.
Abby: (Looking over at Peter, Luka and Carter and smiling) Make sure I get him back in one piece. (Walks off).
Scene 5
Later that night Susan, Elizabeth, Weaver, Chen, Haleh, Chuny, Maggie, Cleo, Lydia, Lily, and Abby are all in a private room at the Lava Lounge having a bachelorette party for Abby.
Susan: (Handing Abby another present) This is from Carol, she said she's sorry she could come.
Abby: (Taking the present off Susan and looking over at Chen) I hope it's not another personal sex kit.
Chen: (Laughing) What? Oh come on everyone needs one even an old married women like you you.
Abby: (Throws the wrapping paper at Chen) Old married women!
Chuny: (Looking over at Abby) What is it?
Abby: (Putting the present down) What? oh it's a book on why to marry a doctor.
Chuny: (Smiling) Nice.
Maggie: (Looking around the room) Is that it?
Cleo: (Taking a sip of her wine) Lets play another game.
Elizabeth: When I one of my friends back in London was getting married, we played this game called
Susan: (Interupting Elizabeth and standing up) I'll be right back. (Walks out of the room)
Abby: (Watching Susan leave) What's she up to?
Scene 6
Meanwhile in the private room next to the girls private room at the Lava Lounge. Carter, Peter and Luka have just arrived to celebrate Carter's last day as a free man. Dave, Jerry, Malik, Yosh, Pratt, Gallant, Romano and Jack are already there waiting for them.
Peter: (Taking off the bandanna from around Carter's eyes) Surprise.
Carter: (Looking around at everyone) A bachelor party?
Dave: (Standing up, walking over to Carter and hugging him) Hey man long time, no see.
Carter: Dr Dave?
Pratt: (Going over to the bar and grabs another bottle of beer) Right man, now that Carters here lets get started. (Goes over to the stereo and presses play, John Farnham's Freedom starts to play and Pratt starts to sing along with Jack) It's a song of the heart, a race in the wind, a light in the dark, that's freedom.
Carter: (Smiling) It seems Pratt got his party started long before I got here.
Jerry: (Going over to Carter and handing him a bottle of beer) Pick a number between one and a hundred.
Carter: Why?
Malik: Just pick one man
Carter: Ok thirty.
Jerry: You've got one minute to try and drink thirty bottles of beer. Start the clock.
Everyone: (Cheering) Drink, drink, drink.
Luka: (Standing up) I'll be right back, how do you say, party continue. (Walks out of the room)
Scene 7
The girls are in the middle of playing truth or dare when Susan walks back in.
Susan: (Going over to the others and sitting down) Did I miss much?
Abby: Where'd ya go?
Susan: (Looking over at Lydia and nodding) No where. Just needed some air.
Abby: (Walking over to the wall that seperates the rooms and putting her ear against it to try and hear what's going on) Hey there's something going on in the next room.
Lydia: Ok Abby, your turn.
Abby: (Turning around) I just went before Weaver.
Weaver: Go on Abby.
Abby: (Walking back over to the others and sitting back down)
Lydia: We dare you to put on that mask (points to a mask Susan is holding up)go next door and start dancing.
Abby: (Laughing) What you want to but that mask on and go next door. How am I going to see and thing out of that thing.
Susan: (Standing up) Your not, that's the fun of it. I'll guide you to the door. (Susan leads Abby to the door but stays out of sight)
Abby: (Walks into the room and starts dancing to Peggy Lee's Hey big spender)
All the guys: (Cheering) Woo hoo.
Carter: (A little drunk yells) Take it off, take it off
Abby: (Bows and turns around, feels her way back into the room the girls are in, pulls the mask off and sits back down) Well that was embarrassing.
Susan: (Walks over to the stereo in the girls room, presses play, Cliff Richard's when you walk in the room starts to play very loudly) Ok girls lets sing.
Luka: (Walks over to the stereo and turns it off)
Carter: (Turning to stand up to walk over to the stereo) Hey man, I liked that song.
Luka: I got another challege for you.
Carter: (Holding up his bottle) Bring it on man.
Luka: (Picking up a mask simular to what Abby had on and handing it to Carter) Put this on and everytime the song goes walk in the room, you have to go in there (points to the room the girls are in) and try to take one item of clothing off everytime they sing walk in the room. (Luka leads Carter to the door but stays out of sight)
Girls: (Singing loudly When you walk in the room)
Carter: (Jumps in to the room and takes his tie off, swings it around and throws it towards the girls)
Girls: (Cheering and clapping) Wow hoo (The song contiues to play)
Carter: (Turns around and walks back into the boys room)
Susan: (Yells out) Walk in the room.
Carter: (Walks back in the room from the door way and drops his trouser pants. They land around his feet)
Girls: (Cheering and laughing which the music continues to play)
Carter: (Turns back around and stumbles towards the door)
Girls: (Yell out before he can get to the door walk in the room)
Carter: (Jumps around and pulls his shirt over his head)
Abby: (Cherring and laughing not realising who it is yet) Carter's got a much better body.
Carter: (Hearing his name) What! (Pulls the mask of ,looks around the room and yells) Lucka!
Luka: (Smiling and srugging his shoulders) What!
Abby: (Laughing stands up and goes over to the boys room and looks in)
Gallant: (Smiling) Hi Abby.
Abby: (Walks back into the girls roomand looks over at the girls who are laughing uncontrollably)Susan, I knew you were up to something. (Laughs, picks up the mask and throws it at Susan)
Carter: (Pulls his pants up and goes over to Abby and picks her up and swings her around) Hey! (Puts her back down and kisses her on the lips)
Boys: (Walk in to the girls room and start dancing)
Girls: (Get up and start dancing too)
(Abby's still smiling as she as Carter holds her close while they dance to Delta Goodrem's Butterfly)
