Poems About Loss

Sweet Bitterness

  My name on his lips,
  so sweet to my ear.
  Whispering words I have
  so longed to hear.
  His gentle embrace, his
  smiling face, his trailing
  fingers, leaving no trace.
  Of the love brand new,
that I cannot hide.  A spark
  within me taking the ride.
The way that he loves me,
  none has touched, deeply,
  slowly, never rushed.
  His body and mine, kissed
  by the sun.  Every moment
  inhaled, every song sung.
So proud to show me, caught
up in his web.  Hanging silkely
  from every thread.  Only taken
so soon to be TORN from
  his gentle embrace.  Tears of
  bitterness trailing my face.
My heart is heavy, torn asunder.
The flower had opened, its time
now spent to be once more
  with destiny placed.
  Winter again,
  seed covered by cold, to
  untrusting heart and bitter hold.

Missing You

I said I wasn't fragile.
I said I didn't care.
I said it didn't matter
if you weren't there.
I said I wasn't weak.
I said I wasn't base.
I said I'd soon forget your
face.  I said I'd be strong.
I said I'd stand tall.
Without you here,
I feel helpless and small.
I still hear your voice,
its husky tone.
I still wear your shirts
that smell of cologne.
I still watch our sunsets
with misty eyes.
I still regret saying
goodbye.
