| What is the IAFF? The IAFF (International Association of Firefighters) is a labor union that represents firefighters and paramedics across the United States and Canada. Formed in 1918, it has fought constantly for the rights and privileges that it's members now enjoy. What affiliations does the IAFF have? The IAFF is a member union with the AFL-CIO and the CLC. What area does local 3876 cover? All members of Local 3876 are career employees of Mason County Fire District 2 in Belfair, Washington. Why is the local so new? The members of Local 3876 were originally attached to the Mason County Professional Firefighters, but due to explosive growth within the county, we felt all parties involved would be better served if we formed a second local within the county. Can anybody join the IAFF? No. To be a member of the IAFF, you must first be hired as a career firefighter or paramedic with an agency that has a local representing it's employees. What's the deal with the sticker? The IAFF sticker that you see on the backs of members' cars is nothing more than a way for us to show our pride in our profession and our union. It does not grant the driver any special privileges or rights. |
