Hey! There's a new shoot'em up game for Playstation. Hmmm...let's see how good of a game this is shall we?
GAMEPLAY
Omega Boost is almost your typical shooter game. You'll find yourself blasting big bosses, small fleets of futurized air ships, and other wierd robotic stuff with rapid fire shots, homing lasers, and even a super move where your whole mech becomes a projectile! Rarely, you'll find yourself dodging objects in your way for most of Omega Boost's levels are in wide open spaces. How fast is the action in this game? Let's just say you won't really know where you are when you're shooting (until you look at your radar of course).
The thing I really hated about Omega Boost was that it was very short. It'll probably take you about 1 hour to beat the whole game, depending how good you are, and you won't even want to play it again! The company should have added more replay value to this game.
GRAPHICS
This is the category that Omega Boost excells in. The bosses, enemies, mid-bosses, backgrounds, explosions, etc. looks pretty good, but not outstanding. Did I mention that there are some nice FMV videos too?
SOUND/MUSIC
Omega Boost's sound effects are adequate for the game. There's nothing to complain about. The Music played in Omega Boosts, on the other hand, is something to complain about. Why do I have to listen to some bad techno music while shooting some baddies? It gets repetitive and is down right annoying!
CONTROL
Omega Boost's control is pretty good. Controling your mech is pretty much easy. I personally suggest using the pilot control setting so it'll be easier for those who played this type of game before. To fire your gun, you simply press the fire button repeatedly. To shot homing lasers, hold the fire button to lock on and release to fire. To accelerate, simply press the accelerate button (probably x). Because Omega Boost can get a bit hectic at times, you'll probably loose site of the enemy(s) you're targeting. To be in the direction and stay locked on your enemy, hold the "lock on" button (probably R1 or R2). This is a very necessary and nice feature!
CONCLUSION
Omega Boost is a game that wouldn't be good to buy. In terms of renting, make this game the second to the last on your list. Man, I thought this game would be good but...oh well (sigh).
