SOUND/MUSIC (8.9)
Onimusha did pretty well in this category. The sound effects are
excellent; you could hear the "whoosh" of a sword swing to the
sound of Samanosuke's footsteps on different environments. The
voice acting is quite good, but only in Japanese. English voice
over does not fit in at all! And don't worry if you don't know
any Japanese because there are subtitles. The music that
Onimusha provides is of very high quality. It seems as though a
Japanese orchestra is playing for you! What's also good is that
music changes and fits well to the situation at hand in the
story. Nicely done Capcom!
CONTROL (9.5)
Controlling
Samanosuke, along with his kunoichi friend, was quite easy. The
button configs were user friendly and all actions could be done
with ease. Capcom most importantly implemented an "aim" button
in which your character would automatically face the nearest
enemy. This is a must since Onimusha is in 3D. By the way, if
you have a dual shock controller, you would feel your
character's sword slash through your enemy. Cool!
CONCLUSION (8.9)
Onimusha turned out to
be an above average game for the PS2. I found it a worth while game to not only
rent, but also to buy if one's capable and desirable enough of doing so. Hope to
see a sequel... |
