Chapter 1
Saturday was finally here. The day Brian was scheduled to return from Los Angeles. He, and
the rest of the Backstreet Boys, had been on a hectic promotional tour for their newest album.
Cassandra was excitedly awaiting Brians arrival. At Brians request, Cassie stayed home
instead of meeting him at the airport. So she prepared their home for a romantic welcome home
evening, complete with a gourmet dinner and romantic music.
As the 6 oclock hour drew nearer Cassie showered and changed into this lovely little black
dress that Brian had bought for her during their trip to Milan. She finished up with a touch of
make-up and her favorite perfume. It was her favorite because she knew Brian loved the smell
of it on her.
Cassie lost herself, in thought, for a few moments as she gazed into the mirror and envisioned
the evening to follow. When she came back to the present she glanced at the clock and was
shocked to see that she only had five minutes left until Brian would be walking through their
front door. She scurried about the house, like a joyful little mouse, making sure that everything
was perfect.
She gasped at the sight of the fireplace. Oh no! She exclaimed. I forgot to light a fire. She
covered her face in disappointment, but not for long. She remembered that Brian always liked
to do that himself, and as he did so he would glance back giving her a shy smile that would soon
turn to a sultry gaze that made her burn with desire. Just the thought of that look made her heat
up with excitement. As a blush stole across her face, a pair of hands reached from behind to
cover her eyes. A soft voice whispered in her ear sending her heart racing. Guess who, Baby?
His soft breath caressed her ear. A devilish smile pulling at her lips as she responded. Um
Nick? No, no! I know! Its AJ! Cassie said with a giggle as she turned to see her one and only
love. Welcome home Brian! Ive missed you so... she was interrupted by a tender loving kiss
from Brian. Ive missed you too Baby. He leaned in and caressed her lips with his own, and
giving her a barrage of feather like kisses until their senses couldnt take the torment any longer.
Brian captured her lips in a passionate kiss. Cassie wanted more! She parted her lips and Brian
didnt disappoint. He deepened the kiss. Their tongues intertwined, tasting of one anothers
passion. Breathlessly they parted. The two lovers clung to each other for support.
After they regained their strength, Cassie took Brian by the hand and led him to the dining room.
I wanted to surprise you with a nice romantic candlelit dinner. Just the two of us. How does
that sound? She asked, with the hopes that he wasnt too tired or jet lagged from his flight.
That sounds wonderful Cassie! And later Ive got a surprise for you. Brian said with a hopeful
smile on his face. A surprise? What is it? A huge smile played across her face as her
excitement and curiosity grew by leaps and bounds. Be patient Cassie. Besides if I told you
then it wouldnt be a surprise. Now would it? Winking at her and putting his arm around her
shoulders Brian led Cassie to the dining room table. He pulled out her chair and began to seat
her. She protested telling him that she needed to go to the kitchen to begin serving them both.
Brian would hear nothing of the sort and made her promise to stay seated. He would be taking
care of the serving duties.
He made his way to the kitchen and promptly returned with the food. He placed it on the table
and began to serve Cassie, then took his seat across from her. They shared in this wonderful
meal and stimulating conversation.
When they were finished Brian excused himself from the table and made his way into the foyer.
Cassandra looked puzzling at him as he did so, but Brian just gave her a slight smile and
continued on his way. When he returned, no more than a minute later, he held both of his hands
behind his back and didnt look up from the floor. If Cassandra was puzzled by his exit she was
completely bewildered at his entrance. Brian, whats wrong? Her features showed only
concern for Brian. He continued his slow pace until he stood beside her. Kneeling down to one
knee, he looked up into her sparkling blue eyes. Her heart skipped a beat at what was
happening. Could he really be asking her THE question? She didnt know, but she could barely
contain her excitement. From behind his back Brian pulled a beautiful blue jewelry box, and
cupped it in both hands presenting it to her. She gasped. What was this? The box was not a ring
box, it looked more for a necklace or a watch. She tried her best to hide her disappointment.
She had been hoping and praying for so long that he would propose to her, and now it didnt
seem to be the case.
Whats this? She asked as a look of surprise masked her distress. Open it! Brian lifted the
box to Cassandra. She hesitated for a moment, and Brian coaxed her to take the box from his
hands. She carefully opened the box. She couldnt concentrate on what the contents were, all
she could see was Brians smiling eyes looking back at her. Her heart warmed with such love
for this man before her and all disappointment was forgotten.
She finished opening the box, but still had not glanced at its contents. Brian chuckled a little and
then glanced down at the box, hoping that his eyes would lead hers to the box. She followed his
eyes to the jewelry box and stared at its contents, not saying a word. Brian reached in and lifted
one end up and let the rest trail and dangle behind. May I? Brian requested her consent. May
you what? She replied somewhat dazed. May I put this on you? He moved behind her taking
hold of both ends. Why would you want to do that? She quickly turned to see him. I told
you. I have a surprise for you. Brian laughed, unable to contain himself any longer. The look on
her face was priceless. You mean this isnt the surprise? Brian shook his head in response.
Thank God! A relieved Cassie exclaimed as Brian was now doubled over with laughter.
When the two of them calmed down Brian placed the blindfold over Cassandras eyes and tied
it in back. He then led her outside and into his car which was awaiting them in the driveway. The
two drove for some ten minutes but it seemed longer to Cassandra.
Brian, where are we going? Cassie shifted in her seat tugging at her seatbelt. I cant tell you
that yet sweetheart. Well be there very soon though. Glancing over to her with a smile on his
face. As Brian had told her, they shortly arrived at their destination. Brian had gone to help her
out of the car and led her into the building and took the nearest elevator. Cassandra had heard
the bell of the elevator and began to wonder just where they were. Brian held her steady as the
elevator began its journey to a destination unknown to Cassandra. Coming to a halt and doors
opening they proceeded down a hallway. Brian stopped her and she could hear him rifling
through his jacket pocket. He pulled out a card and swiped it through a security scanner. The
door unlocked and the two of them entered the room, but not before another couple walked
past them in the hallway with knowing smiles on their faces.
Once in the room Brian stood in front of Cassandra and began to remove the blindfold. It took
a few moments for her eyes to adjust to the light, but once they had she was overcome with
emotions. They were in a hotel room that Brian had decorated with her favorite white roses and
babys breath, with twinkling white lights all around. A beautifully decorated table set before
them with two champagne glasses and a bottle of champagne chilling in the ice bucket. Brian
placed the blindfold over his shoulder and seated Cassandra.
What is all this Brian? Its beautiful, but why? She questioned as he again, like earlier in the
evening, seated himself across from her. Well Cassie, I too planned a romantic evening for the
two of us. Ive been away from you for far too long and I wanted tonight to be a night you
would remember forever. His words touched Cassandra so deeply that tears welled up in her
eyes. Brian seeing this, came to kneel at her side. He cupped her face in his hands and gently
wiped away her tears. Then slowly brought his lips to her he placed featherlike kisses on each
eye and worked his way down her cheek until their lips joined in a sweet tender kiss. I love
you Cassie, with all my heart. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife? She looked into
Brians stunning blue eyes and lost herself in their endless expanse. Brian pulled the ring out of
his pants pocket and began to place it on her finger ever so slightly, awaiting her answer.
Cassie, will you marry me? He asked again, bringing her back to the here and now. Yes,
Brian! Yes, I will marry you! New tears were forming in her eyes as Brian slid the ring onto her
finger.
Brian stood and took Cassandras hands bringing her up to him. He leaned forward and
captured her lips in a passionate kiss that they both had wished would last a life time. When they
parted Cassandra tried to speak, her words barely audible. I love you, Brian. I love you. She
leaned in and rested her head on Brians shoulder. They began to dance. There was no music
playing, save for the music of their hearts. Holding each other so closely that they were nearly
one body.
Soon they were both back to the table to toast this momentous occasion. Brian poured the
champagne and they both sipped from their glasses. The bubbles tickling Cassandras nose, as
Brian smiled at the sight of her beauty. They finished their drinks and both stood once again.
Brian reached up to his shoulder, taking hold of the piece of material that had been laying there.
What are we going to do with this? He asked with a shy smile on his face. Cassandra took
hold of it, placing one hand on each end of the blindfold. A devilish smile stole across her face
as she raised her hands over Brians head, wrapping the blindfold behind his neck and pulling
him close. Im sure we can think of something. She kissed him soundly and then teasingly
pulled her lips away as she led him over to the bed. Guiding him down on the bed she leaned
over and turned out the lights. They danced the dance of lovers into the early morning hours.
Until they both succumbed to exhaustion and feel asleep in each others arms.
