Autobiography

I learned the second language at very young age, however; it's common in Taiwan. When I was six years old, I started to learn English. It was not a good experience. I even couldn't pronounce "motorcycle" and didn't get a chocolate candy. I stopped to learn very soon, because I couldn't learn anything and couldn't use English in my life.

Then, I learned English again when I was a junior high school student. I had to face it because I need it to pass every exam. I learned as every student in Taiwan, memorizing grammar, and writing composition and remembering everything in textbooks. The person memorizes more who gets more grades. It is English for students in Taiwan. I usually got bad grades because I didnt like to put something boring and useless in my brain.

When I entered senior high school, everything is changed. I hate English. Correctly, I hate my English teacher. I tried my best to remember vocabulary and grammars; however, I didnt do well in exams. At the same time, my English teacher always hurt me by cure words and laughed at me in the class. In three terrible years, I learned how to protect myself and do not care about other's words, besides, nothing in English. However, I like to watch movie and listen English music. I cannot deny that I need English and I like it. Therefore, I choose to study in English language. It doesn't mean I don't to memorize grammar anymore, but I do it because I want it not the other people ask me.

Now, I can say loudly, "I like English!" And, it is very important for me. No matter what kind of job I will choose in the future, I need English. It's an important tool to communicate with other people. The best part is I can know many people come from different countries and understand what they want to show to me. It's great, isn't it?

Luckily, I enter the master program in Cal State San Bernardino in 2005. From now on, I need study harder than before.
