Skylar's parents were killed when he was 15 in a train accident. Skylar, having refused to go with them, feels happy that he didn't die, and sad because they did. He also feels guilty for feeling happy, but he hasn't told anybody this, so nobody knows. He manages to forget about it during school terms, but it always hits him twice as hard when he goes back home for the holidays - mainly because he tries to forget they're dead. His brother, Robin, is three years older than him, and works to support the both of them, making just enough to live off of and pay school fees for his brother at the same time. Skylar feels constantly guilty because of this, and can't wait to get out of school to help his brother. Skylar likes the boarding school, and most of the people in it, but he can't help wishing it were a little closer to his home town sometimes. But he usually manages to push unhelpful thoughts like these away, and tends to enjoy himself. Skylar is really quite possessive, although he hasn't found anything to be really possessive about. He likes knowing something is his and his alone, and he goes to remarkable lengths to keep it that way. He's quite a romantic as well, but personally believes that kind of thing to be stupid most of the time. He'll be romantic to dates and to crushes, but only because it helps him to get on their good side. That said, he's actually quite creative with his romantic ideas - they work more often than not. |

| Mikah comes from an extremely strict family - from his father's side, anyway. Brought up solely by his father's wishes, Mikah has been around the army for most of his life, and because his father is one of the more important people, he moves around a lot. He was born in Holland, moved six years later, and hasn't settled down again since. His mother is a shy and timid woman, made worse by her overbearing husband, so Mikah doesnt really have any allies when it comes to arguing with his dad. His father is bitterly disappointed that Mikah isnt more like him, and takes it out on Mikah, claiming only to want to 'toughen the boy up'. Mikah hates it, and most of the things his father makes him do, but he must do them or suffer the punishments. His father believes in well disciplined, army-natured boys, and he has tried his best to make Mikah one of these, completely against Mikah's nature. Thus Mikah, instead of responding well to these lessons, has withdrawn into himself, and refuses to let most people close. Knowing his father plans to make him join the army when he's an adult, Mikah rebels against this as best he can by spending more time with his art before his father can take it away. He doesnt understand why his father resents him so much, and is hurt by it a little, but more angered by it. Despite his outwardly shy and silent appearance, Mikah does have quite the character on him. Had he been brought up normally, he'd be a mischievous soul... it is to be hoped that Skylar can help bring that person out. |
