| Stronger Than These (a sonnet) |
![]() |
How could I help you understand The happiness I feel in the touch of your hand, And how even the most wicked sorcerer could not beguile Me, as much as does one glance at your smile. Oh, to compare my fingers gliding through your hair Would accomplish nothing, for it is that fair. And your eyes, they pull me deeply inside Like a black starry night, or a dark ocean tide. But 'tis the voice which comes from you I love the best, For it has many times my soul caressed. My love for you is stronger than these, Say also you love me and I'll be at ease. For if I shall live a hundred years, As long as you're with me, there'll be no fears. |
