| Promise-Return to Me |
| A man had two sons He loved them each very much And when they were together Others hearts they always touched They all worked on a farm together And shared the same equal tasks And the question of whether they were happy Would never have to be asked But then one dark and rainy day Their father lying ill and sick Told them he loved them And that he knew he would soon be gone quick He asked them to finish his work To farm the land they could see Then with his dying breath he whispered "Promise to return to me" The brothers both began to cry Each were thinking different thoughts One planned to do his work The other thought this not And so they went their seperate ways One doing evil, the other good One wastng his time and money The other doing as he promised he would The good son turned 33 A plague had hit the land And soon joining his father His work was fullfilled And as they hugged Their tears could easily be seen "Thank you my son, my work is done, Your promise returned you to me" A Father had two sons He loved them both very much And when they were seen Others were soon touched The Father in desperation Needed His sons by His side He asked them to follow his plan And give up their pride "I ask you my sons To go on a journey To fullfill my work, but most of all Promise to return to me" The good son stepped forward "Father, thy work is my will Whatever thou asketh of me I plan to fullfill" And so they went their seperate ways One doing evil, the other good One bringing followers down with him The other doing what he knew he should The good son turned 33 Blood stained on his hands And soon joining his father once more He fullfilled his only plan And as they hugged Christ's and God's tears could be seen "Thank you my son, my work is done, Your promise returned you to me" We're all a son or daughter of God And have each chosen our seperate ways But as long as we keep our promise We will return to Him again |
