| Following My Heart |
| I came upon a fork one day That lied in my life's road Then set my heart upon the path To see which way to go My heart stood there for a minute or two Unsure of where it was Then went straight on down the road As it usually does And then a sign appeared Its colors bright but dim The words stood out before my eyes Would You Go Out With Him? And there below the sign The paths were there again The left said Yes, the right said No But both paths looked the same My heart stood there Unsure of what to do I followed its footprint to the left The choice it made I already knew To trudge this parth was not hard Though my heart raced along the sides And although it seemed to tire out Its anxiety tried to hide Now on this path that seemed so bright It had turned darker still But my heart was convinced that it was right I could not stop its will And then some trees had started to show Their branches tried to hold me back But my heart pulled and pulled me on For the path was going black And in the darkness My heart still trod My mind and eyes Felt something was odd A sudden bright light apeared before me That made me lose my sight For a moment I was lost And I felt a sudden chill of wind at my side We were standing on a cliff Just my heart and me And at the bottom of the canyon My past life I could see Then my heart turned back to look at me With tears filled in its eyes It threw itself over the edge I could only hear its saddened cries And as I stand there To watch my own heart fall I hear a shatter as it hits the ground There is nothing left at all All alone I am again As I watched my heart die I hold myself and can't believe That somehow I cannot cry I stand and spread my arms As if wings could make me fly I whisper a prayer And to my life I say goodbye I lean myself right off the cliff Hoping too that I will break] And just before I hit the ground I awake |
