In this chapter, the techniques used in order to control or conceal transmission
errors for video applications were presented. These can be applied at the
sender, the receiver, or both of them. Some of them are suitable for bit errors,
while others handle more efficiently packet loss. Not all of them are giving the
desired results over IP-based networks, which are in the scope of this report.
The selection of the most appropriate will be done in the next chapter, along
with the decisions on the other parts of the video communications scheme.
