Summary

This chapter dealt with efficient ways of delivering video over packet networks, particularly over the Internet. The requirements of real-time multimedia do not map well to the current IP service, thus, new protocols and services, inspired from ATM service models, were developed, and are currently deployed. This evolution is taking place so as to minimally affect the existing popular Internet services.
