History:

For over ten years Sanderson Dear has been layering sounds at the decks to create his immersive sets. His music reflects the times, yet arranged in such a way to make it timeless. Starting from the late eighties to the early nineties, Sanderson had DJ'd industrial and alternative before it became a marketing term, in his signature 'beat matching' style. As the music of the nineties changed, so did the scenes. With the early nineties came the rave explosion, when Sanderson Spun Journey, Mixmaster Morris, the Orb, Sabers of Paradise and Baby Ford which created the setting for his long term marriage with House and Techno. This relationship was later compounded with atmospheric drum & bass in the mid nineties when LTJ Bukem's 'Logical Progression' sessions came out.

The late nineties has seen Sanderson become a paradox of a sought after DJ, yet still Toronto's best kept secret. He has played hotspots such as Area 51, The Beat Junkie, The Comfort Zone, System Soundbar and The Weave. Also in the late nineties, sponsored by Sellout Productions, Sanderson's has widened his residency to include Melbourne and Adelaide Australia. The Aussies in Melbourne received him with nothing less than the utmost enthusiasm at clubs like The Lounge, Centrifugal, and Freakazoid; and Cargo in Adelaide. This double residency not only widened his audience base, but introduced him to different producers both established and underground, creating breadth. Thus, his sets are guaranteed to have something never heard before. It was also around this time when Sanderson established the Mixedmoodz production company attached to his musical products and events he organizes. Whenever you see the name Mixedmoodz, expect the highest standard in sounds and event atmosphere.

Artist collectives have also put Sanderson on demand to play sets for gatherings such as WABI, Luminal and Arthouse. As if all this wasn't enough, Sanderson performs guest spots for radio and broadcast station www.1groove.com on Kresh and Robbie's 'Sound:escape'. This interaction inspired the Mixedmoodz monthly 'Ethereal' event at Area 51.

The man has paid his dues, undistilled by lowest common denominator tracks, his mixes are seamless sonic fabrics of flawless blending. Two main strengths are evident in DJ Sanderson Dear's Juxtapositions, 'diversity' and the ability to instill 'atmosphere'. Witnessing an evening or consulting his tape catalogue will testify to that.

As for the future, one may sense that bigger things are on the horizon. Be on the look out for more surprises from Sanderson Dear and Mixedmoodz.
