| A Mississauga newsletter on suburban sprawl and overdevelopment discontinued for funding reasons. There were some 10, 000 issues printed and delivered to homes throughout Mississauga. This newsletter was inspired by a Toronto Archives exhibit entitled After the Sprawl? on the topic of the suburbs. Among the issues I addressed (and hoped to address) was the homogenization of culture; detriments of chain businesses; and communities that use the market place as a focal point rather than any social, political or cultural institution. The objective was to inspire to inspire the community to seek social environmentally viable alternatives to sprawl in the future. Hopefully this newsletter will be resuscitated in the future. |
