Why I Hate CompuServe

Here is an overview of the reasons, click them to see more specific explainations:

Error Messages:
Same error message at every startup
Random "404" errors
Crashes/Forced Log Offs:
Failed dial-ups
Logging off due to "inactivity"
Just kicking me off randomly
Other Peeves:
E-Mail Deleting
Slow as Hell

Error Messages

Same Stupid Error Message Every Startup
This sounds strange, but it is true. Every time I startup the CompuServe program, I get the same error message, saying "An error has occured while loading a CompuServe tool" at first I tried to find out what was causing the error, but eventually I just gave up. I am so fed up with this error, I have modified an image of it, and have it in my
CompuServe Propaganda Page.

404 Errors
Needless to say, the 404 error happens to everyone when a web site is not found. However, I have errors all the time, occuring when nothing is supposed to be wrong. The web site I am trying to reach is not busy, is operational, and yet I get "Site Not Found" errors when nothing should be wrong.

Crashes & Forced Log-Offs

Failed Dial-Ups
It is annoying enough when you have to dial up with a phone modem to get online. It is even worse when you dial up several times, and still can't get online. I would say that at least 40% of the time, when I dial up, it doesn't do it correctly. And many times it takes three tries or more until it finally works.

Logged Off Due To "Inactivity"
CompuSuck seems to enjoy kicking me offline at random times, using the excuse that I was logged off "Due to Inactivity." I would like to see their defination of "Inactivity," because I have been kicked off the internet for this reason, while waiting for a page to load. I don't know how it can see me as being inactive when loading a page, or worse, when I'm downloading a large file. This doesn't happen after doing nothing for thirty minutes or so, it usually just happens when I'm doing something, and I can let it sit for hours and it will not be disturbed.

Just Kicking Me Off Randomly
There is another way I have been kicked off CompuSuck, and when I am, it just says, "Your connection has been lost, please call again!" They have no excuse, and it happens more often than the "Inactivity" excuse. I'll just be on the internet one second, and the next looking at their "please call again!" message.

Other Peeves

E-Mail Deleting
I am not joking about this, it is true. Soon after getting CompuServe, I was checking my mail, and I noticed that my Old Mail folder was empty, when I should have had many messages in there. I checked with the prefrences, and found that it automatically removes your messages after a few days. I thought, "All right, they will be offline in a separate folder," but no, I checked all over, and could never find the messages. CompuServe deleted my messages after three days!

Slow As Hell
I think this pretty much speaks for itself. I used to have a cable modem, but my older brother has it now (long story), and maybe this is just a complaint on dial-up modems in general, but they are incredibly slow.
