March 7th, 2005:

Well, all the music for "So Unravels This Mortal Coil" is mixed and such, and all songs are available for free download from our Soundclick site, which you can reach through the "Music" link on this webpage. Enjoy.

Eventually, we'll have a physical product that we can send out, but we didn't want to delay enjoyment (or non-enjoyment, since this is doom we're talking about) of the music.

January 31st, 2005:

Happy New Year and all that junk. Ok, all music for the first demo, "So Unravels This Mortal Coil," has been recorded and is almost completely mixed. Now, we begin the quest to find a label to release it. In the meantime, we will make the entire demo available for download on our Soundclick site. Right now, we have one rough mix up, for the title track. Give it a listen and hopefully you'll enjoy it.

November 19th, 2004:

All music for the first demo is finished. Rich is set to record his vocals sometime in December, and then we'll work on getting the demo out at some point in that month. If all goes to plan, it will be out before the end of the year. Right now, we are working on the packaging for the demo, as well as preparing for the promotion of the demo.

October 25th, 2004:

Work on the last song, tentatively titled "The Worms Consume Me," has begun. Guitars are recorded, but a ton of keyboard work needs to be done. As you can see, Cease to Breathe now has a logo, courtesy of Smolken. Thanks, buddy! Cover artwork for "So Unravels This Mortal Coil" has been chosen, and should be posted soon enough. Keep your eyes open.

October 9th, 2004:

Finally, a news update. Well, I (Justin) have finished writing the second song for the demo, entitled "Patiently, I Wait for Death." Also, I have written an outro sort of thing that I called "The Last Breath is Cold." I will write one more real song and then I'll write lyrics. After that, Rich will record vocals, and then we'll get packaging ready. Hopefully the first demo will be out in December.

Also, I have left Fall of Empyrean due to waning interest. The band seems effectively broken up. There are no harsh feelings between us whatsoever, obviously, since I am working with Rich on Cease to Breathe, and with Dan Sobeck on our all-acoustic project, Virga.

April 1st, 2004:

The Cease To Breathe website has been moved to a more reasonable and easily-remembered URL.

As far as the actual music is concerned, not much progress has been made yet.

March 21st, 2004:

I have finished music for the title track, "So Unravels This Mortal Coil." I will begin working on lyrics, while simulataneously writing the music for the remaining two tracks, tentatively called "Patiently, I Wait for Death" and "The Last Breath is Cold."

March 8th, 2004:

The Cease To Breathe homepage has been launched. There is not much here at the moment, since there is not much done yet, music-wise. As the first demo is completed, more information will be posted. Be patient.

Work has begun on the first demo, "So Unravels This Mortal Coil." The demo will contain 3 songs of minimalistic, dark, depressing, suffocating doom, along the lines of Worship, Hierophant, Skepticism, etc. Like the name suggests, the hope is that the music will convey a sense of suffocation, emotional and physical. We shall see if it succeeds.
