Civil War

2 Chronicles 10-16 tells of the split between Israel and Judah and the hostilities between them. Jeroboam and Israel rebel and set up golden calves, while Rehoboam learns slowly to trust in God, and Rehoboam's son Abijah defeats Jeroboam in battle. Later, Asa pays tribute to the king of Syria so that Israel would stop sealing off Judah's border.

The division of the kingdom, a result of Solomon's idolatry, comes to fruition with bloody results. God remains faithful to Judah and David's descendants in spite of this, and keep them safe even though they fail from time to time. God will not leave us either when we stumble, but He picks us back up so that we might eventually learn to walk.
