1 Samuel 13-15 explores Saul's first actions as king, which show him to be a man who does not trust in God and instead puts trust in himself. His unlawful sacrifice, foolish curse, and failure to follow through with God's instructions lead God to send Samuel to tell Saul that he is no longer fit to rule Israel.

Faith means obedience, even when it doesn't make sense. Nothing else matters, not even the material things we could offer God. To do what God asks is so much more important, and not doing it results in a loss of our usefulness to God and His kingdom, which then results in our loss of divine blessing.
