"...Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve..."

Joshua 22-24 concludes the homecoming of Israel.   Now the people have the task of keeping the house in good repair.  After the tribes of Reuben, Gad and half of Manasseh return to their homes, they set up an altar to ensure that their descendants remain faithful to God, and Joshua reminds all the people of the blessings and cursings that accompany the promise.

Similarly, when we receive the promise of salvation, we are instructed to be faithful, even though in our own strength we cannot.   We must completely trust in God for everything, even when we think we've got it made.
