Almost Home

Numbers 32-36 deals with the final stages of Israel's journey from Egypt. The tribes of Gad and Reuben, as well as half the tribe of Manasseh settle east of the Jordan while the men of those tribes help to conquer the land of Canaan. New leaders for all the tribes are appointed, and the daughters of Zelophehad are instructed to marry within their tribe to keep from losing their inheritance.

It must have been exciting for the people of Israel to almost be home.  As Christians we have a similar anticipation of going to heaven, one which keeps our own wilderness wanderings in perspective.
