Cleansing and Dedication

Numbers 5-8 deals with several areas of cleanliness, both ceremonial and moral, and with gifts to God and His tabernacle. Unclean people lived apart from everyone else, and unfaithful wives were cursed with poor health. The Levites were to shave their bodies as well as wash their clothes before they were dedicated. And each of the tribal leaders presented an identical gift of substantial value to the temple.

These are things which we would do well to remember, to keep ourselves clean from the filth of the world and give ourselves to God freely.  We do not do these things in order that God will do things for us, but because we and our posessions belong to God and we should live accordingly.
