Sacred Blood

Leviticus 16-17 deals with the priests' responsibilities on the Day of Atonement, as well as the requirement that the people bring their sacrifices to the tabernacle, and that the people not eat food with the blood.  Blood was extremely important, as it symbolized life, and the blood of the sacrifices were a sign of the price to be paid for sin--death.  As such, blood was not to be eaten by people.

The blood of Christ now fulfills the purpose of the Day of Atonement, and does so forever.  As His blood is the perfect sacrifice, we are truly redeemed.
