Offerings

Leviticus 1-5 is about five different kinds of offerings by the people: The burnt offering, the grain offering, the peace offering, the sin offering, and the trespass offering. These were offerings from one's livelihood at the time, and a reminder of our duties toward God.

Jesus Christ fulfilled the purposes of all these offerings on the the cross.  Even in Isaiah 66, the insufficiency of these offerings was pointed out.  When we "give" to God, we simply remember that heaven and earth are His to begin with, and that we are temporary residents in a foreign land.
