Jason Whitlock, writing in the Kansas City Star 29 May 2007:

"We (America) make a mistake when we spend more time preparing young people for the racism that they will surely face in America rather than preparing them for the opportunities that await them."

This dovetails with my Cold Hard Fact from the New Orleans entry a couple of months back.  America does not owe anyone an apology or a handout because of WHAT they are; the only thing America owes its' citizens is the the opportunity to become WHO they have the potential to be.
