-Fingering Alternatives/Suggestions for Ponce's "Sonata Clasica" (1st movement)  -
The fingerings shown above is what I use in the 1st movement of Manuel Ponce's Sonata Clasica (Schott GA 122), starting from the 2nd bar of line 7 of page 4. (For simplicity I shall refer to the above bars as bars 1 to 6.)

Notice I use an open A for the last note in bar 1. This is to make it easier for the LH to hit the following G note, as when the open A note is played the LH can shift and get into the correct position.

For bar 2, I use the LH index finger to finger the G bass note, so as to make the following Ab chord easier to form. The LH fingering for the 1st chord in bar 3 has been changed from the notated LH fingering in the Schott edition, in order to make the transition into the 3rd chord of the same bar alot smoother, without causing a tangible break in the Ab bass note. I have chosen to omit the notated slide here, as I feel the effect is negligible in this case and is secondary to a smoother, better flow in the chord changes and the bass line.

At bar 5, I have removed the need for the full barre at the 1st fret, although an easy half-barre at 1st fret is still required on the 4th crotchet beat.

I hope that you might find some of these fingering alternatives/suggestions helpful and easier than the notated ones.
