COMPETENCY GOAL 3:

The learner will explore concepts of geometry.

 

Objectives

3.01     Identify, build, draw, and name triangles, rectangles, and circles; identify, build, and name spheres and cubes.

3.03     Model and use directional and positional vocabulary.

3.04     Complete simple spatial visualization tasks and puzzles.

 

 

Key Questions: What so I want the students to learn?

1.     Recall the names of the shapes?

2.     Make a model of the shapes?

3.     Complete puzzles using my knowledge of shapes?

 

Materials/ Resources/ Technologies:

·        Pictures of the different shapes

·        The actual shapes in 3D

·        Pencil

·        Paper

·        Puzzles

·        Instructions to puzzles

·        Building and modeling material

·        Glue

 

 

 

 

Procedures:

1.     Introduce the lesson for the day

2.     Do an overall class review of what we have learned about shapes

3.     Give instructions to be followed for the lesson

4.     Break students up into groups

5.     Allow time for question and answer session

6.     Let the students go into their centers and begin

 

Differentiation:

          Thorough instructions that are not too lengthy to ensure that we do not overwhelm students with information. Provide help at each center as needed.
