Buildings have existed since people quit being nomads. Throughout the centuries, buildings have constantly changed and developed. However some people doubt that innovations only apply to changes that allow an adaptaion towards an easier life, and doubt the conjectures that the buildings do not reflect the cultures from which it was made. I too disagree with the statement, and believe that the structures of mankind do reflect the cultures. Pyramids and "hanok", Korea's traditional house, are the examples to my belief.
In the Old Kingdom of Egypt, then existed a powerful almighty monarch, the pharaoh. The people of this country considered pharaoh was the son of the Sun God, and dared not to disobey him. these pharaoh's built tombs of great size, called the pyramids. When one looks at the pyramid, one can just see how magnificent the structure is, and can assume that the pharaoh had great power. Thus, we can sat that the buildings represent the culture it has.
Also, a traditional Korean building, or Hanok, is another example that supports my belief. Gazing at a Hanok, one can make out the smooth curves and bright colors. This shows us how the minds of Korean ancestors were; they did not seek to overcome nature, but rather to blend into nature and enjoy nature. This is another example that shows how buildings do, indeed, reflect the culture.
In conclusion, from the examples of the pyramid and Hanok, I would like to state that buildings do reflect its culture. This reflection would continue till the buildings disappear.
