Project 205 Mi-R : maximum non-turbo performance
-
Step 1.2 - Weight removal.... it's loadsa fun!
If you ever need to blow of some steam, forget the psychiatrist, get yourself a grinder and strip your car!
I bought a cheap grinder for 15 Euro's and believe me, it's the best damn money I ever spent... it's fun!

Cutting away pieces of bodywork logically lowers the weight of the vehicle, thus increasing performance. But on top of that, when removing useless brackets, the end result is a very clean and organized look even without interior panels.

As you probably understood, I enjoyed this part a lot....
Interior:

Basically I ran throug every inch of the car, removing every bracket, panel and other excessive piece of material to start off with.

What's clearly visible is that the interior steel panels of the doors and hatch have been cut away.

Also all the body coating is currently being removed.
Before: seems light enough...
After: even lighter... (look at the doors)
the hatch and side panel...
Exterior:

Same procedure... find excessive parts and cut away with self-assured smile :)
Before: rusted panel on the left... towing eye on the right After: What panels??... now you can see the tires!
Before: detail of the rusted panel
After: perfect space for a brake cooling duct?!
Before: another towing eye and reinforcement panels
After: a nice high-cut rear end
