| "The Piercing" ~Sara Montey~ The metal reflects the dull light from the bathroom mirror Its long, slender image help up against the pale white wall Dry cloth sponges up the moist saliva to hold steady the slippery muscle. The point of the needle is shaky in the hands of the apprehensive The tip pierces the flesh from the bottom A surge of adrenaline races through the body. Light-headed, the needle slowly makes its way to the top. A tunnel now exists, and a new piece of metal replaces the sharp pointed. A look of astonishment and accomplishment occupy the ghostly face. Then a smile, and a feeling of relief. New pain-real pain to replace the old. A new feeling to dwell on that hurts less so. |
