During the summer of 2000, I became certified in open water SCUBA diving. Scuba diving's appeal is based on its aesthetic and its physical sensation. I have over 15 logged dives in a variety of conditions.
It's beauty can be partially revealed by images such as those above, but the dimensions of depth and time are lost in photos. The beauty of a spastic angel fish swimming circles around your head cannot be captured in a 2 dimensional photograph.
The other aspect of SCUBA diving that makes it appealing is its physical sensations. Unlike it's aesthetic, this can only be experienced through actually diving. It is a feeling of refreshing weightlessness.
Although Expensive, Scuba diving is one of my favorite hobbies. I hope I get to enjoy this sport my entire life. Ultimately, I would like to dive Truk Lagoon, a Japanese WWII graveyard, and the Red Sea, for it's awesome coral |
