We're walking on that upward way
That leads us on to life eternal,
Brings to us that perfect day,
When our journeys will be o'er,
We will meet and walk with Jesus,
On golden streets forever more.
Seeking for that home above,
There with Christ in all his glory,
Live forever in his love.
We are leaving all behind us,
All our sorrows, sins and strife,
As we walk this golden highway,
That leads us to eternal life.
Every day we're nearer home,
Each moment feel the load grow lighter,
For we do not walk alone,
We have friends upon this highway
All our burdens we will share,
And our Lord is walking with us,
Helping us our burdens bear.
Watching that we do not stray,
And He'll guide us on to Heaven,
If we'll walk His golden way,
We must follow in his footsteps,
As he walks that golden trail,
He will never- never leave us,
And his love will never fail.
Where the saints have trod before,
Enter in that golden portal,
Walk golden streets for ever more,
We will dwell in golden mansions,
Where we never shall grow old,
Where all is lighted with his beauty
In that city of pure gold,
