Let's straight to the point, there so many people put their eyes open to Defeated Sanity after you recorded "Prelude To The Tragedy" which is more into Unique Leader's band style for me, so I was wondering this...have you ever try to contact Unique Leader ? but I'm pretty sure that Grindethic Recs give the best option for your band..

We sent many of our stuff out to unique leader, not only our "Prelude" stuff, but several demo´s before. We never got an answer, which I understand in some cases, in the case of the new album not!! Jon was one of the only (and first) ones, who showed us real interest, and gave us the best offer, so we decided to take it!

So do you think this time UNIQUE LEADER feel regreted ? I think they do hahaha...

Oh I don´t know if they feel regreted for that! I think they had enough killer acts signed during the last time, for example ODIOUS MORTEM!!!! I think, only the absolutely elite acts can be on UL!!!

Do you agree if I say you've 100% progression if I compare your new full lenght with "The Parasite" ? how about "Collapsing Human Failures" ?

Of course, the old releases were fucking lame compared to the Prelude stuff and the development still goes on, haha. We have 7 new songs, that will crush every single moment of Prelude! The Parasite and Collapsing were nice and had good songs, but we didn´t exactly know, which direction to take, so there are some a little cheesy moments on it, where we try to do shit like "doomy" stuff and also some "techno thrash"-type things. We left all that shit behind, believe me!

Your "Prelude To The Tragedy" is surprising, shocking and torturing everytime I listen to it, how long did you prepare for this long play of technical brutality ? is it difficult to make people aware to your musick ?

The writing process for the songs of the album went from 1997 to 2004 and preparing for it was pretty much all the time. We are not that band that is together for one year then releases an album with some average songs. It takes very long for us to compose, arrange and practise a song!
Yeah it´s difficult to deliver the music the right way! If you play that technical shit sloppy and weak, you will not get the attention you need, cus people think, they try to do something, they can´t do really! But if you play it as tight and brutal as DEVOURMENT play their stuff, I´m sure it´s not hard to get into it for the fans!

Hhmmm...is it because Devourment more catchy than you so it's easily accepted well by the fans or what ? how about Decrepit Birth ? these guys play complex too but look at them now...they are success !

Yeah that´s right with DB! But that´s what I talked about! I think DB play THEIR stuff as tight and brutal as DEVOURMENT deliver THEIR sound. I just wanted to point out, that if you play technical, you must play it so good and clear, that everyone recognizes the sickness behind it. If you play all that stuff weak and chaotically, it will propably not be appreciated by the kids!

Beside the band..do you guys have another occupation ?

I´m studying classical guitar at the University in Berlin! All the other guys have some fucked up little work too, haha!

Soundforge Studio...does it expensive ? how long does "Prelude To The Tragedy" being processed ?

I think it´s not too expensive! I recorded the drumtracks in two days, the guitars took 4 or 5 days, bass was all did at home (and don´t know how many days it took, haha) and vocals three days! Mixing was also three days or so!

What is your gears uses for "Prelude..." ?

I use an Pearl Master Series drum with Zjldian (K) Cymbals and Axis Pedals and my Ludwig Snare Baby (best shit!!!!). Wolfgang uses some BC Rich NJ Series Warlock and usually Marshall with some Boss eq. But on the studio we made the mistake and took some lame copy of the line-6 stuff. We don´t like it that much anymore. The bass was played directly into the computer with some crappy effect (haha). Another mistake, for me...... You see we aren´t too satisfied with the result, haha!

Have you ever thought to start your own label ? there will be tons of great bands interest join the roster because your band is kick ass...

Don´t know, I think it´s too much work, and I personally am a horrible buisnessman, maybe the other guys start doing it and I´m the guy who has to do the shit work, haha! Hey thanks, for all the compliments, it´s appreciated!

What will you promise to us with Defeated Sanity's future album ?

I promise you, that it will be A LOT faster A LOT more brutal A LOT more technical and A LOT more primitive (at the same time and this is not a lie!) than Prelude! Believe me it will crush some heads out there!!!!!

How about adding little hip-hop parts on the new album ? hahaha

No, haha nothing planned for the next album, but let´s see maybe the 3. album brings you some new influences. You know we´re a german band! German bands regularly fuck up after the second album: Atrocity "Blut", Morgoth "Odium" good examples, hahaha
