Caedere
Mass Emission

Answered by Sjoerd

Hi friend !!! so what's up with Caedere now ? and why did you choose that name ? what is the meaning ?

Hey bro! Everything is fine here concerning Caedere. Were writing some new songs (2 are almost finished) and we try to play ;ive as musch as we can. Well, Caedere is a LAtin word which means to kill or to slay. Its just a basic word, but the Latin word for it sounds cool you know. Niels, our guitarist came up with this name actually.

So tell me the story how Goregiastic Recs signed you ? and does the label do a good promotion for Caedere?

Well, Carlos from Internal Suffering (and label-owner) just got in tough through our first website, were he heard our song Human Decay from our first mini-cd. He came up with a receord deal, and of corpse we said yes. Well, the promotion was a bit delayed, but its going a lot better the last months. Unfortunetly, our re-press of Mass Emission is delayed untill the beginning of next year.

You come from Netherlands, what do you think about the scene over there ? and what's your trick to get your name bigger out there ?

The scene here is alive and kicking! There are many bands here and most of them are working hard to get the attention from the scene. For us it is important to play as much as we can, and spread our propaganda haha. There is no real trick for us, its just a progression within the years that we play. We work hard on our presentation and we play our songs with a certain passion. You must stand for 100% behind your music, otherwise it wont work.

"Mass Emission" is a good album to buy, please describe your style and the strong points of your album for those who haven't hear before?

Caedere plays brutal death metal, sometimes with a lot of speed, but with lots of old-school influences I think. It isnt just that blastbeat thing you know, like a lot of new bands who try to play as fast as they can. Slower parts can be more powerfull! Just listen to Left Hand Path from Entombed for example. Fucking heavy! Im most satisfied with the production of the album. Its brutal, but with a clear sound, so all details can be heard. And very important for me is that it has no digital sound. I dont like that in death metal.

I feel that tracks 3 to 5 are too tasty and little bit old than the other tracks, do you have something to explain about it ?

What do you mean by that? Tasty as in catchy? It has a lot of polka beats in them, and some catchy parts, especially in Mentally Aborted. I dunno, we just wrote these songs and when they were finished, we were very pleased with it. But they sound maybe a bit different than the other songs.

Your cover artwork really impressing, what does the cover artwork represent ? did you spend big money for that ?

Thanks dude. The artwork represents me! Hehe, no, Im on the frontcover and surrounded by dark elements, including a fucked up earth with a blade around it. People must cut themselves first before they learn about themselves. Its a bit symbolic if you now what I mean. A friend of mine designed it, and we are happy with it yes. Big money? Well, arent miljonairs you know ;)

You played pretty tight grinding on "Mass Emission", do you have some suggestion how to play blast beats and playing fast on double bass properly ?

Well, its just experience and you must have the will to play it. Everything is about practising. Look at other drummers techniques, read about it, whatever. I play drums for a long time now, but when I started everything was crappy and non-tight. But you must take the hard road to be satisfied after all. So my advice: Be motivated and devoted, and the most important thing: be patient! Practise as much as you can.

What is Caedere equipment gears uses...?

Well, Im not really into this guitar based gear, so I cant tell you that much. Only that our guitarist Thomas has a very diqusting top, with a tiger motive on it haha. Im try to get a new drumkit myself soon actually.

What bands are you currently listening to ?

Right now Im really into drum n bass like Venetian Snares, Concord Dawn, Panacea etc. Some black metalbands like Furze, Watain, Keep of Kalessin, Velvet Cacoon etc. Or just artists like Neil Young, Steve Coleman (great jazz), Massive Attack, the list goes on and on. Just whatever Im in the mood for. Owyeah, the new Incantation is a total killer!

What can we expect for the future of Caedere ? have a plan to do little tours in Indonesia ?

We would love to play over there man. Would be a total killer. Lets hope for the future! In this time we just try to create new songs and play here in Europe. The new songs will be a bit different, but still heavy as fuck!

Done, the intie is over now...feel free to add something here...

Thanks for your support from Indonesia! Killer! Check our website for regular updates and I wish you good luck with all your activities in the future. Cheers!
