| Haida2 was captured off of iceland in october of 1982 she was 9.5 feet long. After her capture she was sent to sea land of the pacific where she lived with tillikum and nootka4(now dead). There haida and her two compainons at the time had drown a trainer my accident. Then most trainers were not allowed to swim with the orcas at water parks and the trainer had fell into the pool. one orca pushed her to the middle while the other two pulled her around the pool by her leg just under the surface and drug her to the bottom ot the tank. Couse she couldnt get any air the trainer died. couse the orcas were young and the trainers didnt do water works with them, when the trainer fell in to their pool, haida, tillikum and nootka got over excitied. the orcas didnt know their own power. to this day trainers are not allowed to swim with tillikum or haida for fear of history repeating itself. during haida's stay at sea land she bred with tillikum. In 1991 christmas eve, kayuquet was born. After a year, sealand's four orcas were sold to sea world. haida and "ky" were sent to sea world texas. At sea world texas haida lived with Kotar,kahana,samoa, kanuck, and katrina(all now dead). on noveber 20, 1994 haida gave birth to a female calf. the father was kotar, who died a year later. sadly the calf only lived for 38days she died on december 28,1994. now haida lives with winnie, kayla, keto, and ky. she is the matriarch at sea world texas with winnie and kay next in line. haida is sometimes sour to her trainers and now seems to have some what of a sour nature, possibly due to seeing so many deaths and the death of her own calf. If haida doesnt feel like preforming she just simply wont do it and if she wont the others wont eather. she is was 5,600lbs making her the biggest orca at texas. Sadly haida died august 1, 2001 the couse is not known to this point. i found this out just the 2nd day after her death. but i knew during the show on the 2nd that something had happened to her couse the other orcas were showing some aggression and disorentation. it also seemed that ky was still calling for her on the 2nd. i could hear his calls through the preformance tank. after his mothers death he had taken a little break from the shows but is now in back in full force like before. |
