| gudrun was captured from iceland in oct. of 76. she was sent to a zoo in Great Britian, soon she was traded to sea world for 3 false killer whales. she was sent to sea world florida for the breeding program. there she made good friends with katina two years after her capture. gudrun lived with many orcas including the two mature bulls named kanduke and kotar. then in 88 gudrun bred with kanduke, on july 11,89 taima was born. 4 years after katina gave birth to kalina. on dec 31,93 gudrun gave birth to her second calf named nyar. 2.5 years later on march 1st 96 nyar died. then on feb 21 96 gudrun had a stillbirth. that was her last calf sadly gudrun died on feb 25, 1996. just 4 days after her stillbirth and nyar died only 3 days after her mothers death who lived 19.5years in captivity . nyar in her short life lived with katina, kalina, katerina, keto, taima, tillikum(her father), taku, and many others.but sadly in the last little bit of her life she grew physical and some mental problems and had to be seperated from the family. in less then a month 3 valueble lives were lost. all had a long life to live but didnt get a chance to finish them for reasons unknown. |
