Child of the Moon

She slides across the sky at night
Unseen in the day, far from sight
Sometimes at full, one-half, one-quarter
Reflected upon Earth's ocean water
Her name is Luna, a beautiful child
From what I know she's never smiled
The light of the sun she does borrow
To reveal to all her burdening sorrows
"What ails you, oh child of the moon,
Living in your kingdom of gloom?
Too much weight is on your back
How much longer can you last?"
Without a reply, she fades away
While in our discussion, night lingers into day
The following night, I see her blue
"I swear I'll always be here for you."
Always with her, I still remain
Sharing the hardships
And she hasn't changed
