set any options in the two player menu first besides characters. start a one player game then press L2 at the loading screen before the level starts.if there are no enimies in an area where they should be have player one go to that area and switch back to one player with the L1 button then back to two.(with L2) which side player 1 and player 2 is one will switch around.
