California Young Reader Medal Program

This is the seventh year Hanford West has participated in The California Young Reader Medal Program. The three books nominated for the CYRM program this year (a yearly event in California) are Private Peaceful by, Vampire High by, and Elsewhere by . All three are exellent young adult novels, which have been nominated by a group of students statewide.  Students throughout California are encouraged to read all three books and vote as to which they think is the best book.  Students who have read all three books will be invited to vote and will be treated to a pizza party sponsored by the library.

In past years, the CYRM Program has been quite a succes.  Last year, over 220 students were involved in the reading of the books.  Sixty-seven students completed the reading of all three books (compared to thirteen last year).  This year's state-wide winner was
Prviate Peaceful.
