Once again the wheel of the year has turned. While this does not usually surprise us any more, still many of us may take it for granted. Not so with the ancients! For them, each Sabbat was taken with full seriousness and each was celebrated in earnest.
As we approach Mabon, and in preparation for Samhain, we would do well perhaps to remember our ancestors! And to take the time for ourselves to celebrate as we each may choose.
For Mabon is a harvest celebration. And, for each of us, this will take on a different meaning. For some it may relate to the harvest of a new career. Or it may indicate a new direction in a current career. Or perhaps, as it does for our children, Mabon may relate to the harvest of new knowledge and information, tied to the start of the new school year as it is. Or the harvest theme may manifest itself in new relationships or perhaps new phases in our existing ones. A broad range of interpretations of Mabon, like all the Sabbats, is possible!
Meditation, journaling, divination, and introspection are only some of the tools we Pagans use to learn more about ourselves. Consider taking some time this Mabon to use your favorite tools to discover how the harvest season is tied to your life.
