HVPN Public Service

Two of the young adults in the group, Stephanie and Megan, are working toward the Hart and Crescent award.

Part of the requirements for the Hart and Crescent is the performance of public service. Dave took the lead on this first event - by finding a small unmaintained private cemetery deep in the woods near the Cherry Plain Wildlife Management Unit (near Averill Park, NY) while camping with his wife Tamie and daughter Megan.

On Sunday, May 16, 1999, Dave, Tamie, Megan, Mark, Dee, Stephanie, Gregory, Chris, Tim, and Nanci all met at Dave & Tami's house then caravaned off to the cemetery. After a winding trip of several miles, on roads of dubious condition, the group found themselves on a back trail leading to the cemetery. Unloading our various tools and equipment, we trekked off to find the cemetery itself - in a sorry state of disrepair...
